Description

Topological materials, especially topological materials with magnetism, have attracted tremendous attention in condensed matter physics research due to their contained fundamental interests as well as high potentials for future technological applications. By introducing extra exchange interactions or external applied fields, a lot of novel physical phenomena can emerge, such as magnetic phase transition, couplings between magnetic sublattices and relativistic Fermions, topological magnetic excitations and so on. Neutron scattering with the advantage of a rich sample environment and high magnetic sensitivity is exactly a proper and powerful tool for studying the magnetic structures and magnetic excitations of the topological magnetic systems.

In the talk, I will make a brief introduction of the research background of topological materials, and then I would like to introduce our works on the AFM structures of the Eu and Mn magnetic sublattices as well as the interplay between Eu and Mn magnetism in the Dirac semimetal candidate EuMnBi2 by using both polarized and nonpolarized single-crystal neutron diffraction [1]. For the 2nd half, I will give an introduction of our recent work about topological magnon insulators (The bosonic analogs of topological insulators) in two-dimensional honeycomb van der Waals ferromagnets CrXTe3 (X = Si, Ge) studied by inelastic neutron scattering [2,3].
