Description

Developing models to analyze scattering data requires finding a balance between mathematical simplicity and structural realism, which is particularly challenging for disordered systems. Stochastic approaches offer a practical way through these almost antagonistic requirements.  In this talk I will discuss a variety of stochastic models of disordered structures and I will illustrate their use for scattering data analysis. The first part of the talk will consist in a general and non-technical presentation of stochastic models of static and fluctuating structures. The second part will illustrate the use of these models for small-angle scattering and neutron spin echo data analysis, with examples from nanoporous materials and soft matter.
