Magnetic Neutron Scattering Data Analysis Workshop 2026
A four-day training workshop on “Magnetic Neutron Scattering Data Analysis”, organised by the MLZ Science Group “Quantum Phenomena”, will be held in Garching in 14-17th April 2026. The main aim of this workshop is to provide basic theory framework and hands-on trainings on the data analysis of inelastic neutron scattering and magnetic diffuse scattering. The workshop will cover the following software packages:
- SpinW (including Horace): For the analysis of spin-wave excitations in long-range ordered spin systems based on linear spin-wave theory
(see https://spinw.org)
- SpinHarmony Suite: For the analysis of magnetic diffuse scattering in disordered spin systems and spin liquids (see https://joepaddison.com/software/)
The workshop is intended for PhD students, postdocs and experienced scientists with a solid knowledge on magnetism and neutron scattering. Number of participants is limited to 25. The participation is free of charge (no conference fee, participants only need to cover the costs for travel and accommodation), but registration is mandatory. Please provide a brief description about your education/research background and your motivation in the registration form. Please note that registration deadline is on 16th March 2026 (Monday). We will try to notify the acceptance for your participation in the workshop soon after your registration, or, at the latest, immediately after the registration deadline.
Invited speakers/lecturers:
- Prof. Bella Lake (Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, Germany)
- Dr. Duc Le (ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, Science and Technology Facilities Council, UK)
- Dr. Joe Paddison (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA)
