Emergent behaviour and cooperative paramagnetism: The role of the spectroscopy at ESS

I will discuss inelastic neutron scattering experiments on classical frustrated lattices that reveal correlated diffuse scattering consistent with emergent states. The experimental needs to understand these states of matter will be discussed in addition to the data analysis tools. I will use these experimental requirements to highlight the opportunities within the ESS spectroscopy division and also point out future opportunities that we need to deliver.
