DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Anatoliy Senyshyn\n\nNeutron scattering methods offe
r a powerful means of probing structural and chemical changes within batte
ry materials during operation. Owing to their sensitivity to light element
s such as lithium and hydrogen\, and their high penetration depth through
metallic casings\, neutron diffraction and imaging enable in situ and oper
ando investigation of phase transformations\, ion transport\, and degradat
ion processes inaccessible to conventional X-ray techniques. This talk pre
sents an overview of such applications across lithium-ion battery systems\
, with emphasis on the correlation between structural and morphological ev
olution and electrochemical performance. Recent instrumental developments
and prospects for future neutron-based battery diagnostics are also discus
 sed.\n\nhttps://indico.frm2.tum.de/event/665/
