Description
Single crystal and/or powder diffraction are the experimental techniques, which stands on the forefront of the material characterisation, delivering the key information about the crystal structure, symmetry and chemical contentn. Being perfectly parametrized and standardized technique, the diffraction is widely used and an X-ray powder diffractometer is a part of equipment in nearly every lab specializing on materials preparation and research.
Neutron diffraction as a result of combining diffraction strengths with the well-known advantages of neutrons provide unique structural information, complementary to X-ray or electron diffraction. The diffractometers serve as working horses at any Large Scale Facility. In the current contribution the Overview of the available diffraction capabilities at MLZ will be made with a special focus on the future prospects and developments.
