Description

The Data Evaluation Group and the Neutron Optics Group are pleased to announce a 1-day McStas  introductory workshop for MLZ partner institutes and Users. McStas is a Monte Carlo based ray-tracing simulation package, especially useful for simulating neutron scattering instruments and experiments. 

In this workshop, the  basic concept of McStas would be introduced, followed by a demonstration of the McStas GUI, and detailed explanation for preparation/optimisation of scripts for designing small-angle neutron scattering, diffraction and triple-axis spectroscopy instruments. Depending on the speed of learning, finer details of McStas would be introduced. With hands-on tutorials, participants will learn how to use McStas to simulate neutron scattering instruments and experiments at a beginner’s level. 

Please arrive with McStas 3.6.x (or newer versions) already installed on your laptops.
