From medicine to the food industry, from the development of sustainable and versatile materials to the implementation of artificial intelligence, biomaterials and their applications are constantly multiplying. That is why their characterization with neutrons is also a rapidly expanding field at the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz-Zentrum (MLZ).

The properties of biomaterials are often determined by mechanisms on multiple length and time scales, and neutron scattering is a powerful tool that gives access to a wide range of distances and time scales, from nano to micrometers as well as from pico down to the microsecond.

We warmly welcome contributions on the following topics:

  • Biomaterials for sustainability
  • Peptides, polymers and gels
  • Hybrid biomaterials
  • Food
  • Proteins
  • Lipids and membranes
  • Nanomedicine
  • Biomimetics and alive systems
  • AI for biomaterials

The MLZ Conference Neutrons for Biomaterials is meant to be a forum for experts from universities and industry and aims to illustrate the potential of neutron and other scattering methods in the characterization and in the development of new biomaterials. Talks and posters will be presented by renowned international researchers in the field to demonstrate state-of-the-art methods and applications.
