2nd internal biennial science meeting of the MLZ

Europe/Berlin
Seminarhaus Grainau

Seminarhaus Grainau

Alpspitzstr. 6, 82491 Grainau
Henrich Frielinghaus (JCNS), Robert Georgii (FRM II)
Description
The staff at MLZ and the directorate would like to initiate scientific exchange between different units (horizontally) and the different levels of employees (vertically). The main subject is neutron scattering at the MLZ. We also want to come up with constructive consideration for our future success and have foreseen enough time for fruitful discussions (see program). We ask everybody working tightly with the Maier-Leibnitz research reactor FRM-2 for own suggestions of presentations within the parallel sessions of the science groups and institute meetings. Poster presentations are possible and will be presented in parallel. An after dinner scientific talk will open up for broader perspectives. The venue will be again Grainau next to the Zugspitze. The seminar will take place in the Seminarhaus-Grainau (www.seminarhaus-grainau.de) with high level standard rooms (and WLAN). Students will be asked to share rooms (please give a suggestion of preferred room mates) . The seminar will take place between June 15 and 18. Organized busses will depart from FRM-2 and serve for the return. Independent travellers can also use public transportation to Grainau (DB-Stop Untergrainau/Taxi). We think that scientific exchange must also take place within a relaxed atmosphere, there is room for discussions after dinner while having a drink. A joint evening after a short hiking tour will take place at the Hotel Badersee with Bavarian food and beer. An excursion (2 choices) will take us out to the environment of the Zugspitze: 1. Train to the summit of Zugspitze and visit of the „Umweltzentrum Schneefernerhaus“ 2. Hiking tour: Garmisch -Hausberg (via cable car or by foot)-Partnachklamm - Garmisch
